Cape Schanck
A nice Sunday walk along Bushrangers Bay Walking Track at Cape Schanck, Mornington Peninsula National Park.
My sister and brother-in-law under the tree.

1000 Steps - Kokoda Track Memorial Walk
Queen's Birthday long weekend, 2013. This seems to be the way we celebrate Queen's Birthday, go bushwalking! The weather was perfect, for Melbourne winter. When we left in the morning, it was 5°. The sun was out when we started walking up the track. Before long, we were taking off our layers of winter clothing. Return trip is 3km.
A bit of history ...
The first 100m of the track was similar to the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea.
This memorial was built to honour the WWII veterans who fought along the Kokoda Track.
These 4 pillars symbolised the Kokoda values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice.
A pleasant surprise, the Laughing Kookaburra. I was just about to take a photo and it turned its back on me.
ok, it was playing a trick on me. Here is a proper portrait.
Here are the kids eating and drinking while waiting for the 'elderly' to arrive. |
Studying the map in case we get lost ... |
